a new crash reported in san jose. that sounds pretty serious. >>> it is 7:21. a landslide has forced several families to evacuate and almost a dozen homes are still in danger this morning. the pictures show just how massive the landslide was. it happened early yesterday morning about 50 miles north of seattle. reporter jeff is joining us live to let us know the future of the homes that are still in danger. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tori. geologists will come out and try to assess the damage and risk that is still posed to the few dozen homes. the slide is on the other side of this house. the video is amazing. it's best captured from up above. it looks like a huge bite was taken out of that hillside. the landslide itself is at least 700 feet long. and that cliff goes straight down about 200 feet. so much land mass was lost during yesterday morning's slide that the coastline here on would be island has now changed. it used to be straight and now it jets out about 40-50 feet. an immense amount of mud and rock and debris. only one ho

through several apartment units here on the second and third stories. this is park street and san jose several and in talking with the division chief a short time ago, he talked to us about the damage on the upper level of this damage and a good portion of the roof did collapse here. this was a very stubborn fire that burned for several hours this morning. it broke out at 2:30 a.m. people who live in the building woke up and everyone, luckily, did make it out safely. but five people will have to find another place to live because their units were destroyed by the fire. now, this building has several businesses down on the ground floor, including a clothing store. i talked with the owner this morning and she told me she's worried about the smoke and water damage she will find inside the place. >> it's pretty hard considering i've only owned the business eight and a half months. this is my dream job. i got out of corporate. i'm not gonna get down on this. >> reporter: that woman told me she does have insurance for her store. so she's trying to keep a
-involved shooting in unincorporated san jose. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is live in san jose with what police are saying about gunfire that followed an overnight chase. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. sheriff's deputies just cleared the scene on jerilyn drive. they've been here for 12 hours investigating. we were just told by a neighbor. they say this is where the suspect in a stolen car was shot, where you see all of this broken glass and just across the street, that's where they say that he crashed his car after he was shot. i don't know if you can see. there's some debris there, still in the street in this residential neighborhood. now, this all took place just before 7:00 last night. san jose police were driving in unmarked cars from the specialized metro team. they spotted the stolen car, tried to spot it. authorities say they did use their lights and siren. the suspect then started to ram into police cars and the parked vehicle. one of the officers got out of his car. investigators say that's when the suspect

and vandalism. >>> 7:05. san jose police have released photos of a man and a woman suspected of violently stealing another woman's purse. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega joins us from the scene of the crime. so janine, are people in the area concerned about their safety? >> reporter: they definitely are. you know, we're here near the ray street light rail station. most of the people i spoke to said they hadn't heard about this attack but this happened in the buena vista neighborhood in the 500 block of race street. we're told by people that this area is considered safe. but police are hoping that you can help them track down the two suspects they say are responsible. they say this young woman and a young man in their early 20s were working as a team when they targeted a woman who was riding the light rail on february 6th. just before 7:00 that night, the female victim got off at the race street light rail station. police say the female suspect followed her, punched her and then kicked her until she fell to the ground and tried to take her pu
